Chord tone soloing is a key skill to getting to the next level.
This is one of the big differences between beginner and advanced guitar players.
And all chord tone soloing is targeting the notes with a chord.
For example, let's say you were soloing over a chord progression that went Bm D F#m G.
When the Bm chord is played, you could play a B note; when the D chord is played, you could play a D; when the F#m chord is played, you could play an F# note; and when the G chord is played, you could play a G note.
You are not changing keys or anything like that. You are just focused on the chord being played at the time.
